There’s a buzz in the air at Southern Soul Academy, and for good reason. Between preparing for an incredible seminar, getting ready to cheer on our AGF competitors, breaking in new mats, and planning a Halloween party like no other, we’ve got plenty to be excited about this fall.
Learn from a Legend: Brian Marvin Seminar – Oct 4
We are thrilled to welcome Brian Marvin to Southern Soul for a special seminar on Saturday, October 4, from 11AM–1PM.

Technique Spotlight: X-Guard, De La Riva & Reverse De La Riva
On the mats this week, we’re exploring three open guard systems—X-Guard, De La Riva, and Reverse De La Riva. These positions offer endless opportunities to control, sweep, and transition. They’re advanced concepts, but building comfort here is key to leveling up your game.
Southern Soul isn’t just about training—it’s about growing, competing, celebrating, and showing up for one another.
See you on the mats,
The Southern Soul Crew
